Can the internet make the difference for many of those for whom the economy just does not seem to be working very well anymore? "The number of Americans who have fallen into poverty rose to 15.1 percent in 2010, the highest level in nearly two decades, the Census Bureau said in a report. While the official unemployment figures are looking a bit better for 2011, it is less clear if the jobs are of a nature that will bode well for gaining upward mobility.
The Census Bureau report, which showed the poverty rate rose for a third straight year as the economy struggles with a stumbling recovery and persistent high joblessness, said the number of poor Americans in 2010 was the largest in the 52 years that it has been publishing poverty estimates, according to Reuters.
There were 46.2 million people in poverty in 2010, up from 43.6 million in 2009 - the fourth consecutive annual increase in the figure.
In a report that covers the first full calendar year after the end of the Great Recession, the bureau also said real median income dropped for the third year in a row."

Here is my question. For some of those folks who have lost their jobs and do not have much chance finding another position that would pay comparably, has the internet and the opportunities online come far enough to provide legitimate alternative means of making a living?
Of course, as someone that is dedicated to earning a living online, I consider it to be a somewhat rhetorical question with the answer being a resounding YES!!!!
