The Fulcrum Formula is an application of the fulcrum effect to building online programs.

Have you ever seen someone move a large rock (small boulder) by positioning a fulcrum point so that the leverage on a long pole exerted enough force to magnify that person's strength? Well, the world is simply a larger rock and if you have enough people helping you apply effort on a long enough and strong enough lever then your combined efforts will have impressive results!
How do you get people to come over to your side of the seesaw? Well, sometimes little more than a friendly invitation is needed. For others it may take a bit more motivation, yet most of us like being part of a team so a worthwhile endeavor will usually attract enough people to get things moving. When leveraging people the synergism occurs from the fact that you only need to invite a few and then join forces with them as they each invite a few too. Enthusiasm and momentum can generate a group of people the size of an army in a matter of days.
Look at the Occupy Wall Street movement that began in Liberty Square of the Manhattan Financial District that has now become Occupy Everything! I am not even entirely sure of the objective of this movement except for the general feeling that there is too much of an imbalance in the financial structure of our society. Regardless of your position on the issue, it is notable that a few folks have been able to influence a much greater number of people without any tangible lure of pay or position!
