Thoughts on Alcohol Use

If you are drinking a lot of alcohol you are probably aware of the health risks. You probably know that you are increasing your...

your risk of heart attack - http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Conditions/More/MyHeartandStrokeNews/Alcohol-and-Heart-Disease_UCM_305173_Article.jsp

your risk of stroke -

http://stroke.ahajournals.org/content/26/10/1768.full

Certainly this article is not designed to be medical advice but common sense dictates that if you are drinking too much you probably know it and you probably know you should either stop or moderate your consumption

Holistic or homeopathic treatments thought to help you reduce your alcohol use include quality “whole food based” multivitamins including especially omega 3 fatty acids; Vitamins A, B, and C; magnesium; and zinc. The amino acid supplement l-glutamine also shows promise as a mood enhancer that helps to break the addiction cycle. Alternative treatments for excess alcohol consumption include acupuncture, exercise and hypnotherapy http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/alcoholism.html

Ethnic Health Court offers some additional thoughts about a “natural” approach in this March 2013 article http://ethnichealthcourt.com/2013/03/20/alcoholism-home-remedies-quit-alcohol-addiction-naturally/

A chinese herb -  Kudzu has also been cited as a natural way to curb alcohol use http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/alcohol-abuse/news/20120517/chinese-herb-kudzu-may-help-drinkers-cut-down

There are multiple verses in the Bible about moderation in all things http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Everything-in-Moderation/ and drinking is no doubt one of “those things”

Moderation in alcohol consumption is generally considered one or two drinks a day maximum. If you are exceeding that amount regularly it might be a good time for a little self assessment, maybe a little outside help.
