Regardless if it is family owned, small business or a corporation, it does not matter. What counts is the loyalty and devotion of your employees. As we know this does not happen over night. Employee loyalty is not something that will endure unless there is action taken place to keep it alive and thriving.
Here are ideas how to accomplish employee loyalty in a company. Before I begin this information can also be for a home business in many ways.
1. Respect: Everyone likes to feel important, worthwhile, and valued. Things like remembering their name, or just chatting with them to listen to what they have to say goes a long way. Acknowledging the presence of your employees with a smile as you walk though the departments is great. Lets them know they are appreciated and noticed.
2. Communication: There are many ways you can do this, but the point is, communicating with your employees helps them feel important and noticed. At one time with my job I would have meetings on a regular basis. Everyone was involved and said how they felt, what was on their mind, suggestions and problems they were experiencing. We worked as a team. I also would give them feed back on what was happening with the company. I kept them informed.
3. Acknowledge employee loyalty. A thank you goes a long way. Saying I appreciate your efforts and hard work. Some places employees have been with the same company 20, 30 or more years. Let them be recognized. For their dedication.
4. Reward People: Yes I understand, it depends on the circumstances. A bonus in the payroll is awesome or a bonus at Christmas. Throwing picnics or having a pizza day for everyone. This is a way of saying thank you, but you should be thanked also personally, and individually.
5. Increase in Benefits: If and when a company reaches a new level of financial stability, employees should be rewarded with increase in benefits, This is so valuable, sends a message know the employees play a large role in the company and you want them to have a better standard of living.
Employee loyalty is letting them know they are valued and appreciate. This can derive from several ways, such as just words, increase in pay or bonuses. You must find the most appropriate ways to show your appreciation. Doing this you will have employees that will stay with you, no matter what.
I choose to write this, because I know through my own experience how it feels to work for someone else. Some places I was greatly appreciated and some places I was just a name or number. Yes this is pretty sad, but it happens often in our work place. Everyone has feelings, value to bring to the table and should be acknowledged.
I was brought up to treat people equal and treat people the way you want to be treated. This is so valuable and so true. We all our unique and have feelings and self worth.
