Leadership is the art of inspiring people to pursue certain goals and objective.Effective leaders are able to convince people to perform some task, and their followers follow them willingly. So how can you become an effective leader? Below are seven traits of highly effective leaders that you can also learn to become one.
For people to gain confidence in you, the first thing you must have confidence in yourself. While you may worry about coming across as arrogant, the truth is, others need you to be confident in what you know and what you don't know. Even being able to say, "I have no idea" demonstrates confidence that others can respect.

Good communication skills

A successful leader is typically the one who is an excellent communicator. A leader with good communication skills can instruct and listen to others well. Good leaders are those who are apt at deciphering, understanding, and then relating the organizational message back to their subordinates.

Ability to handle power

Great leadership comes with great power. As a good leader, you must be comfortable with power. Be ready to be in control of other individuals. This is a serious issue, and some individuals may fear this type of responsibility.


A good leader should be able to cope with changes that may occur. The effectiveness of the leader will be determined by the ability to adapt change and be responsible. When a leader adjusts quickly to unexpected circumstances, it enables his team to adapt as well. This assists the leader to help team adapt to unexpected circumstances and think out of the box.

Be a risk taker

As a good leader, you should be ready to take the risk when making decisions for your organization. In other words, great leaders have to be comfortable with leading people even in a situation where the outcomes are uncertain.

Share Your Power

One trait of a good leader is sharing power with others. Share your powers by empowering other colleagues. Look at some of the great leaders of all time; they are people who helped others to become successful. By helping others, it proved them a great leader.

High emotional intelligence

Have you ever asked yourself what makes an effective leader? A leader connects with others and is sensitive to their needs. You must be aware of emotions of other and have sympathy and empathy.

A good leader doesn’t take control and do everything on themselves. They create good followers by giving others opportunity. Followers need to be given some responsibility and feel valued. A real leader will also ask his followers for advice and put in practice their views.
