I am not new in my natural journey but I am still learning.

Being natural for the past 5 years, I have been asked numerous times about my insight.

So here are some of the things I have learned along the way:

YOU can chose to be natural and wear your hair straight. A lot of times people’s perception of being natural is wearing an afro all the time. Well it is not and the female you see with the beautifully trimmed, nice looking, bouncing hair could be the natural girl who chooses the straight hair styles.

YOU can choose to do my favorite styles which are the 2-strand twists, twist up and twist out styles. I love these styles because my hair has a lot of shrinkage and I like the way these styles look on ME. These styles are also low maintenance and I can do these styles MYSELF!

If YOU prefer to wear braids and weaves you can still wear these hairstyles as well. To me the more natural the hair the better it looks and the longer the style lasts.

If YOU are thinking about going natural do it for YOURSELF! I think that is where most people go wrong. YOU will actually have a chance to see what styles/products work best on YOUR hair texture and length.

I can name a lot of products that work and don’t work for my hair because I have taken the time to get to know my hair J I often do my own hair and YES at first I was VERY frustrated with my hair. Now I cannot believe how fast I can do my own twist up do styles on me and my daughter’s hair.

A lot of natural hair salons offer consultation services. Be on the lookout and support these professionals. If you are in the Raleigh/Durham area, a great professional to contact is Zora. Her professionalism and insight are head on and I even let her do me and my daughter hair from time-to-time.

This is my insight 4 U and I look forward to reading about your hair journey.

Much SUCCESS
