Leptin Predicts Diabetes?

Leptin Predicts Diabetes ?

Leptin is often referred to as the king of hormones. It is the commander of almost everything that takes place in the body.  This hormone is made in the stored fatty tissues (adipose cells) of the body. Once it is released, it will travel to another area of the body right up to the brain. This makes the understanding of how leptin works very important in the daily life of our health especially issues regarding weight management, thyroid function, stress, mental capability, inflammation, immunity and the cardiovascular health.

Leptin is in fact a cell-signalling hormone that is vital in the regulation of appetite, food intake and body weight.  The extensive studies that have been done so far indicate that an absence of leptin in the body or leptin resistance can lead to uncontrolled feeding and weight gain. When fat mass decreases,
the level of plasma leptin falls and appetite is stimulated until the fat mass is recovered.  There is also a decrease in the body temperature and energy expenditure is suppressed.  On the other hand, when fat mass increases, leptin levels also increase and appetite is suppressed until weight loss occurs.  In this way leptin regulates energy intake and fat stores so that normal weight is maintained.  A prolonged absence of leptin will lead to increased appetite and food intake that result in morbid obesity.

Obesity is a disorder of energy balance and is often considered a precursor of diabetes. Excess energy is stored as fat whenever energy intake exceeds energy expenditure. Therefore the optimal treatment for obesity would be one that both suppresses food intake and increases energy expenditure. Since leptin is
controlling the rate the body makes energy and energy is needed by everything in the body to do anything, leptin issues are core to survival and  and our health.  Leptin is so powerful and this is why I call it the “King” of hormones.  It is important to note that leptin also plays an important role in regulating the onset of puberty.

Taking multivitamins and minerals such as GBG's 10-in-One could help mitigate some of the problems mentioned above.

I Wish you good health, prosperity and abundance.
