So, fellow marketers:
We now have these images on our desktop.
If you've noticed on most of the safe lists they require you to have a linked image.
How do you go about adding an image to an email in order to be able to add it to your safe list email advertisement or even as a signature to your regular emails ?
Once you have the image stored on your computer, which by the way, you'll want to direct your download system to ask you each time where you might want to save the image.
Once you have that saved then look at the name, that either you or the website gave it.
sometimes I've downloaded an image and its xyz125436.JPG which makes no sense to you when you come back to your work later.
Come up with a name that is short, sweet and to the point of what the image is. apple.JPG or sock.JPG something you can remember goes back to the affiliate that you are marketing.
Now that you have it saved in a normal name, what do you do with it.
If you've not logged into your c panel, now is a good time. This is the place where your webmaster or the person in control of your website has your files.
You can use different programs to play with the HTML code, which by the way I still am old school using the old Mozilla author, also there's SeaMonkey which I've found to be just as good.
You don't need those programs for the moment, since all we're doing is linking them somewhere on the internet.
Doing this won't mess up your website, it's just a place to hang your images.
So back to the C panel, we need to get logged in. Ask your webmaster for the login if you don't have it, h/she may freak that you want access, but this is an important lesson to your marketing future.
Now onward to the c panel.
You'll see towards the top of the c panel references to upload and download, in this case you are uploading from your computer to your website so we want upload.
When you upload you'll find it gives you the opportunity to look around your computer.
Find the new named file you just changed to something you recognize and double click it. Magically it is now on your website.
So how do you know it works ?
Type in your website address, but at the very end put in a forward slash / then the name of your file. Hopefully it's JPEG, which most of the safe mail folks accept. If not, which I probably should have mentioned, use Picasa by Google to change it to the file type you need.
So did your image open up in a new browser ?
If not double check your spelling, hash marks, anything you might have down differently on the upload.
Now you have an image that is tied to a web page and can be used in your email marketing.
This same concept can be used in your sends from your email hosting service, just as long as you have the signature image on your website as well as the signature on your desktop.
Have fun with it.
The final is that you look very professional when you have an image on your email or as a signature line on your returned emails.
Good luck and happy emailing.
