How Do I Provide Value? Think about which form of media you are frequently attracted to, whether it’s a newspaper, website, or a TV program. Why do you return? Because it provides something you care about, whether its information or entertainment. If you don’t see the benefit, you flip the channel or hit the “back” button, sometimes never to return. Your audience is no different. Once they visit, subscribe, “friend,” connect, or follow you, they want value.
The Logistics of Providing Value
There are quite a few ways to actually share
this great info, but you don’t want to flood
your list with email after email every time you
find something cool. That’s where social media comes in… A lot of this valuable information can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. Social media is a fantastic way to share and provide value without being intrusive. However… the money is in the list and you’ll definitely want to share some of these things exclusively with your list. One easy way to do this is to write a blog post about a related or relevant topic. Then when you send an email about the new blog post you can throw in a couple of the things you’ve found along the way. That’s what I’m going to do today… since I’m talking about providing value in this post it seemed only fitting to throw in some extras for my email subscribers. In addition to the link to this post, they will also be getting a link to a new video I made, as well as a great free report about list building I found. “Subscriber only” content provides value to your subscribers, which gives people even more incentive to subscribe… because they know you give your email list access to stuff you don’t give to everyone else.
