Let enjoy the B's of aromatherpy:
Basil, Sweet
Basil is a Sweet, herbaceous, licorice-like, slightly campherous oil. There are many types of basil: linalool basil, exotic basil and sweet basil. The odor of the linalool type is very green, floral-sweet and is most often used in expensive perfumes. The exotic type of basil is stronger with a hint of camphor. Frontier's sweet basil type combines both qualities in a floral-spicy aroma with a lasting herbal sweetness.
Clary sage, bergamot and lime oil work well with basil oil. Aromatherapy benefits: clarifying, uplifting, energizing, refreshing. Basil helps with Bronchitis, colds, coughs, exhaustion, flatulence, flu, gout, insect bites, insect repellent, muscle aches, rheumatism, sinusitis.
Bay
Bay oil is distilled from the leaves and small twigs of the bay rum tree. It has a powerful, spicy, sweet aroma with a distinctive clove note. It is used to produce bay rum fragrance and as a component of fresh, spicy scents. Bay Essential Oil (Pimental racemosa) is sometimes confused with Bay Laurel Essential Oil (Laurus nobilis). Though they share some broad aromatic similarities, both are very different oils.
Masculine and spicy, Bay Oil is a warming oil that is a favorite during Fall and Winter. It stimulates circulation, and when used safely in low dilution, may be helpful in massage blends and to encourage healing of sprains and strains. Aromatherapy benefits: clarifying, warming.
Bergamot
Bergamot oil is cold-pressed from the peel of the nearly ripe fruit. The aroma of bergamot oil is fresh, lively, fruity and sweet. It is an excellent deodorizer. It contains a constituent called bergaptene that increases the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Bergamot BF means "bergaptene free." Most of the sensitizing bergaptene constituent has been distilled out of this product but traces may still remain. Aromatherapy benefits: uplifting, inspiring, confidence-building.
Bergamont is good for aiding acne, abscesses, anxiety, boils, cold sores, cystitis, depression, halitosis, itching, loss of appetite, oily skin, psoriasis, stress. Bergamont happens to be one of my personal favorites its citrus notes are stimulating, invigorating and just plain good to me.
Black Pepper
Black Pepper has a fresh, sharp, spicy, dry woody warm scent. The physical benefits of Black Pepper include a stimulating action that is good for arthritis, poor circulation, rheumatism, and stiffness. The antimicrobial and antiseptic actions help with cold, flu, and infections. The emotional benefits of Black Pepper help us to react when life seems blocked. It helps us to remove the obstacles that can prevent the energy flow between chakras, especially between the solar plexus and the heart chakra.
*Please note: Consult a professional before using any essential oil some have contraindications and you need to be aware of them before you begin to use them.
