Keys Vacation Situation

If you have read my previous press release then you may know that we are vacationing in the Florida Keys this week. My wife and I are here with 2 other couples. We rented a house from Vaction Rentals By Owner (VRBO). We have had great success using this platform in the past for some very nice properties.

The house is right on the Atlantic side of the Key that is located between Islamorada and Marathon. Basically we are on a sliver of land with water on both sides.

With that said, there's is strong Hurricane Matthew churning currently toward the Bahamas. With the current forecast track we will not experience any severe weather...maybe some rain and wind.

We've been keeping abreast of every update of the strength and track of this storm since we know there is only ONE road available for evacuation purposes. At this point, however, we see that it makes more sense to stay here and not travel into harms way.

My wife and I live in Charleston, SC. The storm appears to be headed that way if it keeps its current track. Why would I want to go back now and get in the storm? Uh, no thank you!!

Some of our family is in South Carolina but they are making the necessary preparations to get ready for the storm. Their gas tanks are full. They have plenty of water and food to last for several days.

The impact area for a storm of this magnitude can cause power outages that could last for quite a while. It's best to be as prepared as possible for the worst.

Below is a selfie I took from the porch of our rented vaction home. As you can see, it's not a bad day today.

Wednesday in the Keys

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to those that have been or may be affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Have a Blessed Day!
