The most stupid question is usually the one everyone has but are too afraid to ask!

From my years of training many farmers and project staff in many developing countries I have learned that the most stupid questions are those which all participants have but are too afraid or ashamed to ask! This phenomenon crosses cultural bridges and probably is a universal mind set.

Knowing this, what to do with it? In my training sessions I started to include a special session which I called "stupid questions". Noted down some of them and then asked the participants to answer them. Many couldn't! Obviously the questions were not that stupid! Continuing the training I asked them to list some other "stupid" questions they might have. The ice being broken, the questions flowed rapidly!

In our network marketing we can benefit from this by including in our presentations, brochures and web sites always a section "stupid questions".

These days I am designing a website in Spanish to explain the Just Been Paid program (with a very special IBO oriented offer) as many Spanish speaking people are disproportionally hit by the actual economic crisis. And JBP is one of the most easy and profitable programs (I know of) which might help them to generate some much needed income! I am using the section FAQ's to include and answer all the most stupid questions people might think off!

I hope the tip will help you to get our audience more involved in your topics. I have used it so many times for so many different groups and always it works. I feel it is because it replies to a certain inner fear most participants have that they will be marked as fools or stupid if they don´t know an answer. But why should they? They are there to learn aren't they!

What a great point to get the audience thinking and involved, as well as comfortable. I teach IEQ courses and may use this technique. Thanks, Wim. God bless.

There is such thing as a stupid question. Everyone is unique and not everybody knows the answers.

Lore MacFeat   330 day(s) ago
There's no stupid questions...if people would just ask! Most don't realize there's someone that has the same questions as the do. Great blog post!

I love this...there are no stupid questions, as you say, except the ones that people are afraid to ask...kids are not scared to ask questions, only adults...maybe that's because kids are smarter than grownups :)
