Using a structure in your business: a clear, laid-out plan of action, you can increase output, and decrease input.
What do I mean?
You can work less, and achieve more.
Let’s get serious here.. If you don’t have a structure to your business, then you might as well not even HAVE A BUSINESS.
See, I’m a lazy guy (I’m not afraid to admit it). I’m all about leverage, automation, and making my work easier.
What I found was that when I stuck to a schedule, when my work was organized, and I had a structure, I managed to accomplish more in a smaller amount of time.
For Example:
I went from working 5 hours a day, to working 1. All the while, generating as many results as before and MORE. (In my case, it was making sales, and growing my online business).
And by a structure, I mean I literally went to the store, bought a $3.00 planner, and I mapped out all of my tasks for the day.
You might say that’s a little tedious. However, I found it was amazing, because I wasn’t running around in random directions; I was focused and productive.
Focused, daily action, is the hallmark of a successful person, at least in my industry (which is the industry of making money online).
So, here’s a little exercise that YOU can do RIGHT NOW, to bring a little organization, and structure to your business.
Get out a piece of paper and a pen.
At the top of the paper, write down today’s date.
Next, write down all the hours of the day in which you are free to focus on your business in the form of a list.
For Example:
12:00 PM
1:00
2:00
Now, next to each period of time, write down an activity that you need to accomplish in your business.
For Example:
12:00 PM – Create A Blog Post
1:00 – Place 2 Ads
2:00 – Call 2 Team Members
Be as specific as possible.
Take that schedule and then post, paste, hang, or place it in an easily visible area. Mine hangs below my computer monitor.
Anyway, do this for every day. Before you worry about running out of paper, notebook/printer paper is cheap.
Why does this work?
“Out of sight, out of mind.” or In sight, In mind.
And if this schedule is in your mind, you’re more likely to adhere to it.
And if your adhering to a detailed schedule, you’re not fluffing around, and instead being productive.
Another exercise in creating a structure in your business is creating a habit.
Now, this is a little more difficult and has less to do with the habit itself and more to do with motivation.
It is only fitting that another secret to success online is the motivation, the Will to do it.
Ask yourself this question:
WHY am I doing this?
WHY do I want to make $30,000 per month online?
It CAN’T be solely for the money.
When you have your WHY, grab another piece of paper. WRITE your WHY down. THEN, go on the internet, or find a magazine/photo, and cut out a picture of that WHY.
In my case, it’s a picture of my daughter.
Title this page “Why I MUST Succeed” or “My Why”.
Post, paste, hang, place it next to your daily schedule.
Now take action everyday to fulfill the tasks set about in the schedule.
Then you will have a Structure to your business, and the Secret to Your Success Online.
