Content is King

I just did a new web page tonight and some thoughts came to mind that might help other marketers on here too, especially newbies.

The mantra stating 'Content Is King' has been around for many years, but it is no less true today. I know I spent hundreds of hours creating web pages from templates that were often complicated and struggle with getting the bugs out so they looked just right. Then one day I started thinking, are my visitors more likely to be impressed with my web design skills, or with the words on my page?

Tonight it tool me less than an hour to get the idea down on digital paper and formatted to my liking and a few minutes to load it up to my bargain web hosting ($1 a month) account and link a banner to it from my IBO Toolbox profile. That sure beats the old days of reading and testing pages of templates until I find one I like, then hours getting the copy formatted so it didn't break anything, just for the sake of being pretty.

I'm not saying I won't do anymore fancy pages, just that for a quick ad I think the time to get it productive is much more important than the aesthetics (as long as it's decent).
I open a simple template in Notepad ++ (a free editor) and the same file in my browser, then as I add content and format it, I can refresh my browser and see exactly what it will look like online. It goes pretty fast that way and personally, I like the simplicity of it all.

So if you haven't tried doing your own web pages before, don't let it scare you away. It's nice to go from idea to online in minutes without messing around with WordPress and worrying about hackers disrupting my campaign so easy.

Have fun and I'll see you online!
