Side Benefits to Marketing

I had an interesting experience this morning that may benefit anyone who wants to read about it.

I leave my Skype messenger open 24/7 so even when I am sleeping, my associates and friends can leave me messages that don't get lost in the quagmire of a faulty email system. It still amazes me how many marketers don't use Skype, when it's by far the best method of communication available to us and has been for many years. Oh, did I mention it's FREE?

I mostly use it for text messaging, but when I need it, I can do video or even screen sharing at the flick of a mouse. If you don't have it listed on your profiles so people can contact you, you are letting a LOT of opportunities to make new contacts pass you by.

Anyway, this morning when I got up I found a message from a long time follower asking about how they could add audio to their website. Keep in mind, since I have regular Skype conversations with this friend, I know they are technology challenged, so I wasn't about to suggest Audacity and HTML embeds with them. Especially since MP3 is the easiest audio format for this and Audacity requires you to add the Lame Encoder to gain the option of exporting MP3's. I think you get the point.

So since my current niche is using Resell Rights Products to not only earn money, but to make contacts that will actually READ my communications, I went to the huge membership website I belong to and did a product search for audio. It found a page of products with audio as the common thread, but near the bottom was an older product (evergreen of course) that was EXACTLY what they needed. It had a resource file with the embed code in cut and paste format (they didn't need to know what it said) and a link to a free recorder that saved in MP3 format and generated the buttons for the playback on their website. It even included a video walk-through to explain everything.

I uploaded it to my hosting in zip format and sent them a link in a minute or two. Sure I could have even put a price tag on it and made a buck or two, but the smile that must have been on their face was worth far more than that. I may even do a splash page and include it as a new product on my website, so it was a win-win situation.

I don't know if you were aware, but with the advent of Smartphones, letting prospects play MP3 files on the go is an easy way to provide a subtle marketing message in a helpful sharing way.

See you online!
