List Builders Nightmare

I have been Frustrated over Google Protecting Me!

Am I the only one that has noticed? I spent most of the day debugging an older squeeze page builder and once I got it set up and started testing, I really noticed what I have been seeing for some time now.

Did you know that if you voluntarily subscribe to get some information from a squeeze page hooked to an autoresponder, that when the emails show up in your inbox, you get a big yellow WARNING. It says that the email you just received may not have been sent by the person the return email goes to.

Oh it's easy enough to stop getting those errors by setting a Gmail filter, but how many subscribers are going to bother? Some may have already forgotten why they subscribed and hit the Spam button, which is totally unwarranted.

I did add a little notice under the opt-in form telling them this might happen, but do you even notice stuff like that? I wish Google would give me credit for having half a brain and just leave me alone, along with all my subscribers that were hard enough to get without driving them away.

So if you do any email list building for marketing or training purposes, make sure you tell your subscribers to add you to their whitelist and set a filter to never send to spam for your email address. It could make a difference in your open rates (which are dismal enough already).

Thanks for reading my vent!
