No Stale Content

It came to me yesterday when I had a new referral tell me he found me from a post I commented on over 5 years ago. What we do online has incredible staying power, so doesn't it make sense to pay attention and keep it somewhat updated?

I'm not advocating that we spend all our time running around checking everything we ever posted, but just keep an eye out when we run across old links and make sure they still go somewhere we would like people to visit. I see links here on IBO Toolbox every day that fail this test, so I try to give the owner a heads-up so they can correct it.

I also like to freshen up something I currently use, like the free template I have been offering visitors to my profile. I try to test everything before I post the link, so when I did this today on that template example, it just didn't seem to carry the message that I must have thought it did when I first posted it.

The good part is, (since it was a template I use a lot) it only took me a few minutes to tweak the copy a little and grab a more appropriate background image to bring it into alignment with the thoughts I had today. I think it gets to the point a lot faster and opens the imagination process much more positively. If the visitors can't see themselves in the picture, it won't have nearly the effect I am striving for.

So tell me, can you see yourself in This Picture?
