False Perceptions

What's Wrong With Them?

This is an experience I had that brought me some clarity, so I decided to pass it along.

As some of you know, I am very involved in building a penny clicker program to provide easy funding for one that requires a small monthly payment. I could well afford to just pay the monthly fee, but I know other people want to make it totally self-sustaining.

That is the first divergent perception I had to deal with, but as leaders we MUST consider what we are doing from every angle if we want to succeed. So what I did was approach the problem as if I were broke and needed this help to get started myself. Then I recorded my experience in a video and embedded it in a splash page to share with interested prospects.

It worked well for me, so I zipped the files I used and gave permission for any of my referrals to 'borrow' my success. I zipped the files and uploaded them to Dropbox and sent the link to all 28 of my personal referrals in an email. At the end of the day, only THREE of them even downloaded the package.

My first perception was they didn't care, so they probably didn't even open the emails. This is the trap I have fallen into before and we need to not do that. Some of them may have been away for the holiday and will see it when they get back. Others my think they don't have the skills to install the page and still others may still pick it up later. In fact I did have two more the next day.

All I am saying, is we have no idea what circumstances other people have to deal with, so don't even think about it. Just do your part and let them use their own discretion.

Bottom line is I am still making good money, so some of them must be taking action. I should just accept that and keep working.
