To List or Not To List?

When it comes to online marketing, there is NOTHING more important than building a list.

TRUE
FALSE

The most common venue for this debate, is on sales pages trying to sell you some part of the resources it takes to accomplish this goal. I think there are a few things that need to be considered and even then, I doubt if we could ever achieve complete agreement on the proper course of action.

My personal opinion is, I would rather have a place where people know where to find me and get frequent reminders to come see whats new, without any need to use email reminders or pitches. If that sounds impossible, you need to find and read my free report on IBO Toolbox Tips.

I still subscribe to several optin email lists, but it is a rare occasion when they lead to a purchase of any kind. More than likely, they serve me as a way to get ideas I can use to generate my own methods for free. In fact, I have put several of them into vacation mode by using the Gmail Filters to delete them for a while, then turn them back on when I feel like it.

I am reasonably sure that subscribers I have had on an optin list do the same thing, or just unsubscribe completely. They may have had an interest in one of my shiny objects at one time, but it loses it's luster after a while.

Contrast that with IBO Toolbox, where they are here out of their own volition and when they see a familiar name they have enjoyed reading in the past, approach the message with an entirely different perspective than they would a headline in their email inbox.

It Also Means Less Work For Me!
