It's All In The List?

If you have been around Internet Marketing for a while, you have no doubt heard that admonition many times, but do you really believe it?

I know I have switched positions many times, but common sense prevails and I always come back to using one again. Sure I set up a series of messages to go out telling my story, but you can also send broadcast messages to the entire list at once with most systems.

Some marketers think that is just too much and will drive people away, but my opinion is it depends on what you send out in your broadcast. Hopefully my story in the regular series gives them enough justification for them to join one or more of the opportunites I promote, for their own reasons and not just to make money for me.

However, if you have a finite number of messages in your series, what happens when they conclude and they still have not joined? Of course I hope they elect to continue getting my emails for the value I have included along with the sales data. If I go too long before I contact them, they are most likely going to forget who I am and hit the unsubscribe link, especially if my latest message is some kind of pitch.

So I think it's important the get them into the habit early, of looking for value in my broadcasts even if they are still getting the main series. I like to include [Bonus] before the headline and if they recognize my familiar name, curiosity may get them to open it. Then if that Value really is there, it will enhance my image and not damage the relationship at all.
