Whatever method you have to contact leads or prospects for your business, does it make you sound like a used car salesman or a financial consultant?

If you are trying to coerce your visitors into providing their contact details before they even know what you are going to do for them, you are bogged down in yesterdays technology. I know there are still training courses being offered that teach the same concepts Mike Dillard was offering in Magnetic Sponsoring over a decade ago (I still have a copy on my shelf) and some of his advice still works, but you need to adjust it for the times to get maximum benefit.

The first thing to realize, is people love to buy stuff, but they hate to be sold. That old concept is still just as true today as it ever was, so why are people still trying to throw the hardball pitches hoping someone will take a swing at them? I see it EVERY DAY!

If you want to get people to know, like and trust you, try giving them some valuable information they can actuall use FOR FREE, with no strings attached and watch how fast they ask to be on your list. Then you have the opportunity to convert them into believers in your product or service, instead of just signing them up.

I hear the excuse, that we have to make back our advertising costs or we can go broke before making any sales. That's a prime example of thinking that puts your needs in front of the prospects needs and it should be obvious what the problem is.

You often only get one shot to set the tone for all of your future dialog, so start on the right foot or you may never get a second one.
