Breadcrumb Trails

The example above is what is known as a breadcrumb trail in web design, it shows at a glance where you are and where you came from.

But I have been making use of a much more powerful breadcrumb trail for many years and it has to do with marketing strategies. It is simply leaving breadcrumbs everywhere you can (IBO is a prime example) where people interested in what you offer, have a chance to see them and follow the trail back to your jackpot.

As an analogy, imagine you had a reason to capture some birds (remember it's just an analogy), would you run through a field with a blanket waving it in the air to try to knock a few down, or throw a few breadcrumbs in a corner and wait for them to show up? Then it's pretty easy to continue the trail to lead to what you want them to discover. The best part is, when they get there, they found it on their own without you having to throw a blanket over their heads and scare the whitewash out of them.

So instead of losing your visitors when you try to shove some link up their nose, why not provide them with one tasty treat after another until they learn to Know, Like and Trust you. Once you two reach that level, your odds of working together for your mutual benefit increase significantly.

I know this works, because I have had people find me from breadcrumbs I left lying around over a decade ago and they still must have tasted pretty good.
