I had an interesting experinece on IBO Toolbox this morning that made me wonder how many people run a promotion without even testing it from the viewpoint of someone who may respond to their efforts.

I saw a capture page that offered something I had enough interest in, to go ahead and submit my details. When I clicked the submit button, it immediately took me to a flat out blatant pitch for a monthly subscription to a training program with NO MENTION of the report I signed up to receive. Hey I don't even mind them trying to pitch me, it only took me a second to undubscribe and it gave me some inspiration to write this PR and get credit for it.

The worst part, is it made me wonder if they even bothered to take the time to walk through the experience they were leading me into and think about how I would react to what I found?

Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing anyone or any program, I am simply trying to suggest that ANYONE who tries to create a campaign to promote anything online (or even just to gather leads), take the time to walk through the complete process themselves to evaluate what kind of results they can expect.

It might even be a good idea to have a trusted associate do the same walk through and report back what their impression was before you unleash it. Why spend all that time to create something that is just going to alienate anyone who responds? I can't imagine intentionally wanting them to be disgusted and avoid anything you do in the future?
