Building Contacts on YouTube

I Didn't Know That!!

When YouTube sets up your new account, they lock down the privacy so your activity does NOT show.

I don't know about you, but one of the main purposes I have for YouTube is the Social Networking aspect. It's a great place to share knowledge and build your image, but that's hard to accomplish if you go around with a black hooded sweatshirt pulled over your head and never mingle with others you might help or even those who can help you.

I want my actions to be noticed, in the hope that someone of value to me may be encouraged to associate with me more. That is the best way I know of to establish connections and build rapport, just like we do here on IBO Toolbox (Only YouTube is much bigger).

I didn't realize that YouTube was discouraging interactivity like this, but my guess is they err on the side of being way over protective.

I sure don't see the harm in letting others know I like making friends, or that I just subscribed to a channel that focuses on how to use YouTube better. I liked his video and didn't want to miss any in the future.

I also wanted him to KNOW I subscribed, so when I make a comment the chances that we can get to know each other better increases. If you want a richer social experience from these communities, be positive and mingle as much as possible.

Don't Hide In The Shadows
