How to keep the pipes from freezing

Keep It Flowing

I know it's not winter, but this is the best analogy I could think of to describe my current concern.

I don't know if you live where the cold winters can give you a nice surprise when you wake up some morning and find the pipes burst from the water freezing inside. Ice expands and can exert unbelievable pressure until any pipe can do this, be it iron, copper or plastic, no favorites.

Sure there are steps you can take (such as wrapping the pipes or using electric heaters), but it happens hundreds of times every time we get a cold snap and the plumbers get rich. Knowing what to plan for, doesn't mean you won't ever slip up.

What made me think of this, is we are leaving Sunday for a week and a half long vacation down to California (where I was born) and want to spend some time with family, as well as enjoy a little time in San Francisco and Solvang seeing the sights. My wife has never been to Solvang and she is in for a treat.

The last thing I want to have on my mind, is the pipes bursting in my PayPal account (LOL). I have automatic subscription payments coming out and I don't want my balance so low it triggers my credit card to get hit.

The simple solution

I drug out an old system I have used in the past and set up a few ads for it to run on autopilot. No it won't make me rich, but the trickle of cash flowing should keep the pipes from freezing!

You will hear from me when we get back!

P.S. or maybe sooner if my laptop keeps working.
