Cheap Video Solution

CHEAP VIDEO

You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment to have a place on YouTube (where billions of people can find you), if you can think outside the box.

I wanted to start another channel on YouTube and decided to introduce it with a video explaining my agenda, to try to get more people to subscribe.

I have a webcam, but the quality it produces is not very good, so I bought a cheap camcorder for $37 and it was even worse. Then I dug around and found a really old (version 1) Flip Camera I used for years and set it up on a tripod pointed at a big easy chair to give that a try.

I was really surprised the battery still would hold a charge and it did a reasonable job of getting my message across (see it below), but I quickly discovered that some format changes must have been made on YouTube and the finished video would not upload.

I was pretty depressed, so I went and took a nap and when I woke up a brainstorm hit me. My Flip video played fine on my computer, so I simply used a screen capture recorder to capture the complete video as it played on my desktop and uploaded it with no problem.

No it's not going to come up to the level the big YouTube Gurus achieve, but my objective was met and I didn't need to spend a small fortune. By the way, if you don't have anything you can still get the Flip Mino cameras on Ebay for around $25 and screen recorder software can be found online free.
