The 5 steps to change
We all take different roads in life. These roads are highways of the soul. Some are toll ways where we have to pay a certain price just for making that decision that brought us down a certain path. The toll itself is a consequence for our actions. Good or bad, we all experience consequences for our decisions. The next 5 steps are just and introduction to what areas you need to explore and think through and develop a plan that meets your life.
Everyone’s plan will be different based upon individual needs and past experiences. Although the steps are basics for us all, the philosophy is the same for everyone, but the tangible thoughts and experiences needed to change your path will be unique.
Step 1: Decision. This is the first step in any process. Wishing or thinking about a step or direction is not a decision. Deciding to take a certain action is truly an emotional process. Tony Robbins states there are 3 decisions a person must make and they are: 1 ) What to focus on each moment? 2 ) What things mean to you? Is it good or bad? 3 ) What should I do now?
Step 2: Motivation. Self- motivation is a primary key needed in every day. You need to self-motivate to move your butt off the couch and go mow the lawn. You need to motivate yourself to get up every morning and report to work so that you can build your boss’ wealth and finance his wife’s and children’s lifestyle while your family struggles. That’s motivation. (Nice little plug for build your own dreams don’t you think?)
Create a vision or create your own reality that allows you to live the life you want and desire. This process allows your deepest fantasies to come true. By creating this universe for yourself, you are setting the universe on notice that your reality is in the process of coming true. The universal magnets then begin to bring and set about circumstances that collide with your physical universe thus creating a new reality or a dream come true.
Step 3: Plan/activity/discipline. Take action. Making the decision is the first step, but getting up and moving is the next step. Your lawn will never get mowed if you never move. Laziness leads to poverty and poor health. Action develops momentum and when momentum is moving great things happen. Your plan must be simple and goal oriented. What’s the vision and why do you want to do it. Your why leads into the next step.
Step 4: Skills. Know your current skills and develop new skills. Identify what areas you need to leverage and cultivate that will bring about the change you need in order to accomplish your goal. If you need to learn a new language, go do it. If you need to learn sales skills, go learn them. If you need specialized training, go get it. However, be cautious and make sure you have someone that can hold you accountable and guide you along you path. Finding a suitable mentor will help you along your journey and advise you on the areas you need to work on. Sometimes a person can see things you can’t or in most cases won’t admit to.
Step 5: Attitude of Gratitude. You must be grateful for what you have right now in your life. Even if you lost everything, you are still breathing and thinking. Thank God for that. With those two things you can make a decision to change your life for the better. If you are not grateful for what you have now you will not be blessed with more tomorrow. Do great with the little you have and the blessings of abundance will fall upon you and your family as you will be able to give a lot since you now have a lot. Those with a lot give little are thanked, and those with little that give a lot are praised and blessed. Be grateful and share with others and you will inherit vast wealth. Serve the masses so their lives are enriched.
I believe these steps will get you thinking about your life and what you need to do and make some changes for the better. One positive note is that no matter what road or path you take you cannot walk down both at the same time. If you choose wealth you cannot walk down the poor path, if you choose happiness you cannot walk down the sad path. So, choose the best path for your life and focus on that ever winding road.
I pray for your Happiness, Health, and Wealth. Be Coffeeliscious.
