We were watching our nephew while his Mother and Aunt took my other nephew to a doctor appointment.
It didn't take him long to spot the four kittens (about 5-6 weeks old now) in the back yard and of course he wanted to hold one. I picked one out for him and went back inside leaving the back door open so we could keep an eye on him seeing it was a nice day out.
A short time later, I heard him screaming. When I got to the door, (I'm sure you've already guessed it) momma cat was defending her babies, and I have to say she did look terrifying. She did not actually attack my nephew, but made some very threatening gestures, hissing, teeth showing, her hair raised, and her back high in the air.
We got him back inside and he was telling my father-in-law about it when I heard him (my nephew that is) say, Yeah, I was just about to get her. I couldn't help but laugh.

 | | Russell, Wow! Feral cats are often wary, but kittens are little, lovable bundles of fluff! Glad the wee-one is okay and not physically or emotionally harmed. It's a good lesson for all of us though ... don't ever get to comfortable playing with something you know too little about, as it might just end up "gettin' ya'"! Have a great Holiday Weekend! |
