IBOToolbox: How To Place A Banner/Text Ad
Log into your IBOToolbox!
Find and click on the MyAds link at the very top center of the page.
About midway down, you find the ADEDITOR section. This is where you will define your advertisement. Let's start with a Listing (another name for a Text Ad).
1. Ad Name. This is a short name you will remember this ad by. It is only for your use so you may call your ad anything! In time you'll probably develop a naming scheme that works best for you. For this example let's use gmail-L. (the -L may help locate or distinguish your listing ads from banners later on!) 2. Ad Type. Either Listing or Banner. In this case, select Listing.
3. Ad Title. This is the 25 character (max) title or headline. For example: Gmail Is Free 4. Ad Text. This is 85 characters (max) for your advertising message. Here enter some newsworthy benefit or highlight your promotion. Ex: The most popular email service in the world is free! 5. Web Link. This is the URL Link to the web page you want to send people to once they click your ad. BUT -without- the leading http:// (that is already built into to IBO to supply that portion) In this example I might enter google.com/accounts 6. Ad Display Throttle. Here you can select the approximate speed of how your ad impressions will be disseminated. Fast, Default, Slow or Very Slow. Note that given the volume of unique visitors to the blogs and profiles as compared to the very few IBO Associates with ads placed, even Very Slow will go out pretty quickly! Continuing with this example let's select Default. IMPORTANT!!
You now have your Listing Ad defined but you must SAVE it! Look over to the right, under IBONAVIGATION and find and click on the button SAVE NEW AD.
Unless you save it, you'll have to start all over again!
Now, after you have saved it, you'll want to scroll down a bit further on the same page (the MY ADVERTISEMENTS) section and find your new ad by that unique name you called it in Step 1.
There also is where you are able to Monitor and Control your ads and statistics. Off to the right are a series of 5 icons.
The first icon is a Red or Green button for turning your ad On or Off.
The second icon is a Preview button for verifying the appearance of your ad. Always check your ad!
The third icon provides for resetting the stats/counts.
The fourth icon will allow you to edit your ad. Click this to reload the info into the editor, scroll up again to make any changes, and Be Sure To Update Any Changes You Make! (UPDATE AD)
The fifth icon will allow you to delete the ad.
Ok, now let's do a Banner Ad!
1. Ad Name. This is a short name you will remember this ad by. It is only for your use so you may call your ad anything! In time you'll probably develop a naming scheme that works best for you. 2. Ad Type. This time, we'll choose Banner. Must be a size of 468 x 60.
3. Ad Banner. Here you have a choice to upload the graphic image from your computer OR to simply provide a link to where the banner is hosted at. If you have the banner on your system, click upload banner graphic. Using the dialog box, browse to the graphic image and select it to upload it. If you'll be linking to a hosted banner, simply enter that URL link to it -without- the http:// portion. Again, that's built in to IBO! 4. Banner Placement. Here, you have 3 choices for defining you banner. Entire IBOSocial, Only My Profile, IBOToolbox Top (should be self- explanatory) Do Note that the IBOToolbox Top will use 5 impressions per view as this is a high profile location on the page! 5. Web Link. This is the URL Link to the web page you want to send people to once they click your ad. BUT -without- the leading http:// (that is already built into to IBO to supply that portion)
6. IMPORTANT!!
You now have your Banner Ad defined but you must SAVE it!
Note also, that any banner images you upload to IBO will be internally named and stored. These are also viewable by scrolling down the page even further to the MY BANNER GRAPHICS section. Here, not only do you have them previewed for you, but you'll find the associated name of them. id BANNER-7768 or BANNER-1234, etc.
This is useful for when you want to use the same banner image, but in different Placement Positions. Instead of uploading the exact same image again, when you go to define a new banner ad, just choose the banner image by it's assigned name and define the placement position differently! For example, you may want the exact same banner image to be displayed on your own profile as well as on the entire IBOSocial.
The MY IMPRESSIONS / CREDITS section now comes into play!
All ads/banners are shown or impressed on viewers and therefore use impressions. Impressions are available by trading credits. On a 5:1 ratio; that is 5 impressions per credit. Credits can be earned in numerous ways absolutely free! Or, they may also be purchased.
In any case, you'll need to convert credits to impressions in order for any ads to run. Simply click on the CONVERT CREDITS link and a window will appear to select an amount (100,500,1000..) of credits. Click to convert and then close that window!
Now you'll find you have impressions available and a Green arrow to also signify that your advertising is ready!
One last thing to do is to go back to the MY ADVERTISEMENTS section and click the first icon on whichever ad(s) you wish to turn on.
Voila! That's all there is to it.
