So often in our business we spend time worrying about competition. Worry about what the competition is doing causes us to focus on the competition more than our own business!
How often have I had someone call me and say, "I guess this product / service is no so good after all'! I reply, "Oh really"!? "Yes" they reply, "XYZ company has a product similar to ours and it does this and it does that and the rep told me that what we have is junk compared to theirs!"
Invariably, you will find that the rep who is calling you with such topics on their mind is someone who has never made a sale and is NOT working their business, never-the-less it is now that they get concerned.
The nutrition industry is notoriously bad for this. "My drink has a higher OREC value than all the competition and if you don't get into our juice deal, your complete downline will jump ship because they want the best"! That little bit of doubt, if accepted, will give the competition room to drive the wedge a little deeper into your own psyche and pretty soon it destroys your ability to focus & ultimately grow your own business. Unfortunately, like Mr Bean, we end up the loser because we were more concerned about watching the competition!
For 2012, put your blinders on and build your opportunity like never before. KNOW your own product and compensation plan so when those "losers" call you, you can immediately take charge of the conversation, your own thoughts and ultimately your own business and safely steer it back on track! There is plenty of business for everyone. Take Amway for example - people's negative impressions, "old" opportunity, etc etc etc. They are still growing! The only time the competition can really "eat us" up is if we get distracted!
