Is fear crippling your business? Before you brush off the thought and assume it’s not & that you are free, watch the video of this little girl facing a “fearful situation”& then read through this little writing.

Often we don’t realize the role fear plays in our mediocrity / failure in success. When the “lions” of our lives are staring us in the face what do we do??
We all have lions that we are afraid of. We may think we are free of fear, but there are some sneaky lions that stalk us and suddenly just when opportunity presents itself, they pounce, snarl, scream or some other “ungodly” thing and we lose because we froze! You may be thinking you don’t have any big fierce fears in your life but I’d like to point out a few that many people deal with… these “small” fears steal more opportunities than the “big MONSTER cats” that we may often think of!
I was once in a meeting & the speaker to make a point said that the first person to come up front to him got what was in his hand. Out of hundreds of attendees only 1 person, if I remember correctly, jumped up and went to the front! He was awarded his action with a $50 bill! The rest sat still.
He then repeated the challenge! And this time only a very small “handful” jumped & made a dash to the front and again the first person there was awarded with a cash prize! But again, the rest never moved! Many of those towards the back of the room were there because they didn’t want to be up front where they might get chosen to perform in one of the speakers various illustrations, so their very lack of willingness to be put in the spotlight contributed to their inability to get to the front first even if they wanted too!!
I for one, immediately had a flash of a thought - I didn’t want to be the jerk that made a fool of myself, and secondly I didn’t really believe he had anything in his hand & thirdly didn’t want to look like I was wanting something for nothing even after he proved that he wasn’t doing any of that!!
FEAR!!..... Fear of what people would think! Fear of looking dumb! Fear of FEELING stupid!! Fear of being the center of attention. Fear of people looking at me. Fearful of how people might JUDGE me in their hearts! Fear of failure! All of these & more cost me $50 & I had 2 opportunities to get it!!
That was a lesson to me as I saw how much fear controlled my life. I decided I needed to make some adjustments & immediately started to intentionally make choices that put me in the path of those fears and I faced them down. The more I faced them down the bolder I became and the bolder I became the more success I began to have in various areas of my life – my business being one of them!!
Henry Ford describes one of life's magnificent rewards, "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he CAN do what he was afraid he couldn't do."
This is not easy, but once you make this wonderful discovery, you will find that many times “things begin to go your way!! You will also find there is a barrier, even though unseen at first observation, there is an absolute barrier that those fierce lions cannot cross over and you realize those fears that were once so scary can absolutely not touch you…
