Today was the day, my Significant Other had his carpal tunnel surgery today. I took the day off to take him into the outpatient surgery and we arrived at 6:15am and the surgery happened at 8:35am. Lots of prepping and joking with the nurses took place but I know that a great deal of his joking was his way of calming his nerves. The surgery only took 13 minutes, but the pain he is in now is no joke. He's been a good patient and I've been a good care taker. What they fail to tell you is the pain you experience after the surgery, sure pills were prescribed but it really hasn't eliminated the pain. He is such a busy man, so active, I know it's driving him nuts but the night will come and tomorrow should bring some relief and maybe the pain will lessen. We did try the alternatives before we opted for the knife, he went to my chiropractor but truly the Doctor said he had never seen such a severe case of carpal tunnel. He has worked thru this for so many years that I hope the outcome will be worth these hours of pain. Now he can look forward to having the right hand done after the healing has completed.....
