How to Start Your Own
Freelance Design Business?
- Part 4

Learning & Improving Your Design Skill

Right now, you might be a little worried, and thinking that you don’t have the skill to design graphics for a living.

Don’t worry! You have got what it takes!

As long as you have any eye at all for design, you can learn what it takes to earn money as a freelance designer quite quickly. It just takes motivation, and concentrated study.

In Part 3, we looked at how you can set yourself apart from the competition by specializing in one area of design. This is useful in another way, too, because you will only have to learn to do one type of design well, when you begin. Rather than try to learn how to design every possible type of design at once, you can just concentrate on learning to do one thing well.

Many people think you have to go to design school, and get a degree to be any good at design, yet some of the very best designers in the world, have no formal training whatsoever.

In fact, self-taught designers are often more creative than their formally trained counterparts, because they were never taught the rigid confines of traditional design. Those who reside outside such structure feel much more free to create, without worrying about sticking with the ways they were taught in school.

Once you have chosen an area in which to focus, for example, book covers, advertising banners, social media graphics, or some other area, start studying tutorials.

There are plenty of great tutorials online, and they will cover just about any type of design you might want to learn.

YouTube is a great source of learning. There are thousands of quality tutorials. Best of all, it’s free. No paying thousands of dollars for a rigid design school!

In Part 5, we’re going to take a look at how you can get PAID to learn how to design, so don’t miss it!

Can you really get PAID while learn? YES! Tune into Part 5!
