I follow my instincts

I follow my instincts

Did you ever get that tingle, the tiny voice in your head telling you to do, or not do something? Well, that weird urge, or the gut feeling that you have, is your instinct.

A lot of people say, "I saw it coming", even though the event didn’t seem predictable. You guessed it, this is the instinct again, giving us a hint of what is about to happen. The thing is, most people just can’t explain how this works, and ignore it!

Tap into your instinct

Becoming aware of our thoughts is a good start. I had an experience last year, I was cutting tomatoes for lunch with a sharp knife. A thought flashed across my mind, blood shooting out of my fingers. Did I stop cutting? Unfortunately not, because a few seconds later I had a deep cut in my finger.

I ignored my instinct. A painful lesson. We can tap into our instinct, by being more aware. It could be a physical manifestation such as sweaty palms, or a funny feeling, a thought flashing through our mind, or that sudden feeling in the pit of our stomach. Our subconscious mind is trying to tell us something. The trick lies in identifying signals, and choosing to act, or ignore.

We often hear stories about people having flashes of insight that saved their lives. For instance, booking a flight, then making a last minute cancellation, for what ever reason, only to find out a day later, that the plane went down.

In our financial lives, instinct can play a big role as well. I am actually not a good example in that area, because I lost a lot of money in investments and online scams, ignoring my little voice most of the time. But last year, my instinct saved me ten thousand dollars. I came so close to pulling the trigger, only to delay day after day, until I found out that the owners of the company ran off with hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What’s the trick, or is there one?

There is nothing really magical about instinct. We are plugged in to the power of the universe. You might say that our subconscious mind knows all that is going on around us. Our conscious mind is fully occupied with our day to day activities. We are too busy to listen to our inner voice. If there is any magic, this is where it is. Relax. Slow down, and listen.

What you hear, may just be the answer you have been looking for!
