The world you are living today depends so much on the use of computer. You use it in the office, for watching films, and for social networking. More than anybody else, children are more exposed to computers and without them knowing it, they can get conditions at such a young age just like repetitive strain injuries. RSI is just an umbrella term for all conditions related to the stress, repetitive rigorous physical activities and long hours being in awkward positions.
Many people are so hooked to social networking and some may need to be in front of the computer for their work and all these can be very detrimental to the health. It is because they are very immobile making their body too strained for sitting and having the same position all the time.
RSI is acquired through engaging in rigorous physical activities like extreme sports and jobs that require body strength and lifting. Most athletes found themselves having some kind of RSI because of the long hours of training and stress they get from the game.
Sometimes, it is hard to tell if you already have RSI. Some RSI conditions cannot be diagnosed too in the hospital. But some common symptoms are muscle pain, numbness of the body part after being used or unmoved for a couple of minutes or hours, and stiffness. These symptoms can get worse and may even cause great discomfort to a person.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, you might as well go to a doctor for some tests so you can be helped in what you should do. Experiencing those symptoms means that you have given yourself so much stress and you need a break. Repetitive strain injuries can be cured through time and patience as well as some medication. Curing RSI may take a year or so before you fully recover from it.
You can overcome RSI by having some prescribed and special exercises. These exercises will reduce the tension to your nerves and muscles. You can have some exercises at home or through an expert. Eating healthy and organic foods may help as well. Getting the right nutrients will help your body recuperate easily. If you rely so much on the use of computer, you may use special chairs and table that are designed to have a better posture as you use it. You may also need to know how to type correctly. Medications and supplements can help you get the nutrients that your body cannot get from just eating. It is also important that you visit your doctor regularly and have regular check-ups. Keep in mind that overcoming RSI is a process and it requires a lot of your patience and courage.
The key to treating RSI is to seek professional advice from a qualified health professional such as an osteopath or physiotherapist. They often treat patients with RSI and can recommend the best course of treatment.
