This is my first time blogging...ever, so please bear with me. I just wanted to share a few things that I have learned over the years about making a homebased business or job work. One of the first things that I learned is that I can't treat it like a hobby. This has been my biggest problem. I try to fit my business into my spare time, instead of making time for my business. I finally realized that if I can work away from home for somebody else 8-12 hrs a day, then I owe it to myself to invest a few hours a day working for myself. I also had to set a schedule & follow that schedule. Some nights I make a list of the things that I can do to improve my business, and work from that list the next day. I think that it is best to get the hardest things on the list done first. Having goals is also important. I write my goals down & keep them in a place where I will see them everyday. This motivates me to work even harder. Write now I am working toward home ownership, & I know that I need to work very hard to accomplish this. I also have to learn to step out of my comfort zone. I get nervous about "bothering" people. But hey, what can they do but say yes or no? And my last tip is, always be willing to help others. This is very important. People are more willing to listen to & help you when they feel that you genuinely care about others. This is great when building a business. You have to think about how you can help other achieve their goals, instead of just somebody to make money for you. We have to think about the type of leader that we would like to work with, and try to be that type of leader. Well, that's it for my first blog. Hope it was helpful.

| | | | | Well done Helen for you first blog. The best blogs are written as personal conversations as if you are talking to someone. I learned a lot about your experiences and goals. I wish you much success. |
| | | | | Congratulations on putting together this blog - great information. Accept Jennifer's invitation to give you some tips, and I am happy to as well - it's all about learning and supporting together. As an aside, I remember my mother buying Avon over 40 years ago - so it is a credible company and system. |
| | | | | Good job Helen from a fellow Avon rep! Please add me as an associate because I would like to give you some blogging tips. Treating your business like a business and not a hobby is an important step to success. Keep up the good work! |
