Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft

While there is no way to guarantee that your identity won't be stolen, there are some things you can do to lessen the chances and/or catch it early if it does happen.

One of the most important things you can do when it comes to protecting your identity is to keep an eye on your accounts. You need to keep an eye on your credit report as well as your bank and credit card statements. If you notice any errors or suspicious activity, contact your financial institution and the credit reporting agencies immediately.  You can get a free copy of your credit report once a year at You can also request your free credit report by calling 1-877-322-8228. You will have to provide your name and address along with your social security number and date of birth to verify your identity.

Another smart thing to do is always use strong passwords that aren't easy to guess.  It is recommended that you not use your name or date of birth in your passwords.  Use passwords with uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.  It's also a good idea to use different passwords for different sites.  This way, if a hacker steals your password for one account, they won't have your password for all of your accounts.

Enrolling in a credit monitoring or protection service is also a good idea.  With Youngevity Protect you get identity and credit protection with $1 million in coverage. You also get Black Market Website Surveillance.  This service scours 1,000's of known criminal websites, chat rooms and internet databases for the illegal selling or trading of your personal information. Plans start at only $9.99 a month. That's a small price to pay to protect your family. Find our more at Youngevity Protect.
