I popped into a fuel station today and filled the tank of the old beast that has so faithfully served our family for a few years now.
But when the time came to swipe the card I winced at the dollar figure that glared me in the face from the pump.

The price of fuel has always been a sore point with me dating back to my first car and the money I had to save up just to go anywhere. Today it makes up a significant proportion of the expenses of many households

Thinking about this I wondered if there was anything we could do beyond making sure we have our tires inflated correctly, keep the beast tuned up and drive are the optimal speeds.
