Choosing the right business

I decided to write this blog after a friend on IBOtoolbox asked a question regarding Multiple Streams of Income. To be or not to be. Should we do it, or should we not. It is a very interesting question and a very important one for many people who have decided to build a business online. There are those who will say that you should only focus on one thing and one thing only. The logic there is that once you have been successful with that one business, you can then go on to another venture or business opportunity. For beginners to internet marketing, this makes a lot of sense because it is indeed logical. But, as you are in the industry for several months, 6 months or even a year, at some point you begin to realize how silly that idea is and how costly it is. Hopefully, you realize that early on because, it would be terribly sad indeed if you followed this doctrine and 1 year or more into the business you are not making any progress. The reason it is silly is because it takes a good amount of time to build a business online. Secondly, there is the saying, do not put all your eggs in one basket. And lastly, by being closed minded, you may very well have missed on a lot of great ideas and great opportunities. However, I do caution highly, that as you consider other business opportunities, be very selective. You have to develop a certain criteria of what is a compelling business for you. Everyone will have different criteria. Be sure to follow your criteria, but most importantly understand your criteria. Does it make business sense. That is the only relevant question in this evaluation. It should not be about likes and dislikes, or other personal preferences. It is a business and the decision should be based on business principles. I believe if most marketers did that, there would be many opportunities to partner with others. In the end, keep in mind that this is a business you will spend a lot of hours working. So, you had better do your homework and understand ahead of time why you are choosing to work this particular business. Building a business online is a process that requires you to do many things to promote your business and let others be aware of the products and services you offer. So, unfortunately, there is a lot more to it than choosing the right business to promote. But, choosing the right business to promote is a critical first step.
