How to create jobs and restore economic activity in the US.

We are just now understanding the depth of the mess that the Banks and the people of Wall Street was putting us through during the wild years from 1990 to 2007. The effects of the housing market meltdown is still affecting the US economy tremendously as it is stalling job growth. There are many companies in the US that have billions of dollars of cash on reserve that is not doing anything at all. That money for the most part is not even earning an attractive yet. They are either being hidden in Treasury Bonds and Treasury notes (VERY STRANGE CHOICE), or they are hidden in offshore bank accounts overseas. That has a very negative effect on the US economy. Right now, Americans are suffering. The statistics are staggering, 15% of the entire US adult age population are unemployed. That number could actually be a lot higher when you consider the amount of people that have completely given up on search for work. It could very well be about 20%, again due to the long-term unemployed. When you add in the self-employed and the under employed, you are looking at close to 30% of the US adult age population that are not effectively employed. This is a far cry from the mid-1990s when the unemployment rate was at 6% and you did not have the HUGE PROBLEM of long-term unemployment. People would be unemployed temporarily, but then in 6 months they would find a good paying job. Right now, things are not looking good at all, and this is not being negative at all, it is being REAL. The poverty rate is at 15% in the US, for some groups it is twice that. What is worse is that, Americans are not seeing any way out of that situation. The bottom line is this, if the US continues down this path of increasing PROFITS by squeezing every juice left on the economy and creating 0 Jobs, we can very soon become a nation that is permanently CRIPPLED. Where are the business leaders and where are our elected officials? Americans are Sick of the DEMOCRATS vs. REPUBLICAN shit, our country is going down the toilet. We need SOLUTIONS NOT SPEECHES AND GRAND STANDING. I feel absolutely terrible for the brave Soldiers of Iraq and Afghanistan, some of whom have come home after years of sacrifice to find out that they have no way to earn a decent living. Many of our Soldiers are barely getting by, a huge number are homeless. WHAT A TRAVESTY, WHAT A SHAME!!! And it is not like the solutions are not there, they are apparent to many people. But, our two-party system continues to show signs of being severely OUTDATED, INEFFECTIVE, and even DETRIMENTAL TO PROGRESS. Consider this: there are $1.2 trillion dollars now parked in overseas bank accounts that will never see the light of day, unless the TAX RATE IS REDUCED OR ELIMINATED on the transfer to the US. We need people with common sense who can devise a way to EFFECTIVELY put that CAPITAL to work, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREATING JOBS. That last caveat is one we MUST INSIST upon. We must insist that on all US companies. We must go to all businesses and tell them, OK guys and gals, here is the deal: yes we will allow you to transfer that money here to the US, BUT you must show us how you will create jobs with it. We need to see JOBS CREATED before you get that money. NO MORE BLANK CHECKS!! The positive side to that for businesses is that you will pay little or no tax at all on the transfer. (And honestly, I think the rate has to be very low to be effective, less than 10% for all businesses). NOW, HOW IS THAT FOR COMMON SENSE?!!! Go to my website to learn more. Patrick Saint-Jean E-mail:
