With every day that goes by, Americans are finding themselves struggling to hold on. It is very painful for millions of Americans, that is a major understatement. This ECONOMIC DEPRESSION has gone on a lot longer than the Great Depression of the 1930's. What is different this time around is not only the depth of the recession, but also the length and the slow grinding long-term effects it is having all over the world. What is sad of course is the many desperate situations that you will never hear about, the many children that goes hungry every day, the many veterans that are homeless or struggling to put food on the table. Though Americans are brave and have put on a good face throughout, one has to wonder how much longer this can go on. Indeed Americans from all walks of life are screaming and saying to their elected officials, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, stop all this bickering PARTISAN POLITICS. We are at a moment of great peril, the writing is on the wall. We can change things for the better if we work collectively together, all of us as Americans. NO MORE PARTY POLITICS. We are not interested and it is not good for the Nation. And indeed, main stream America gets it, and understands it fully. Even people that have a job now are feeling unprecended pressure and deep concern about their future. But, as for Washington DC and the Congress, it is doubtfull that they really get it. Indeed, there is reason to question whether their allegiance is to the US or to their respective party. It is not a question of which party has the best solution, it is a question of What are the solutions that would work. We don't have time for another attempt at a MAJOR FAILED POSSIBILITY, which has already cost us Taxpayers $700 billion dollars. Where has all that money gone? Getting back to our issue, the more that things drag on with respect to the economic recession, more and more Americans will lose hope. That is in itself, THE GREATEST TRAGEDY. We, the people, are struggling and looking for A REASON TO BELIEVE. We are not looking for PIE IN THE SKY RHETORICS, nonsensical things which sounds great and can get some wiled up; but in reality DOES NOT WORK. We are way past that point, and I am afraid that if we don't learn the lessons of this current situation, we are going to go further into the abyss. Life is and has always been a matter of choices that people make. And as far as nations and countries, history has shown that this Principle is also true. Patrick Saint-Jean E-mail:
