When it comes to advertising on the internet, beginners beware, it is a slippery slope. It is not as easy as many people would like you to believe. Indeed internet advising is difficult in the sense that if it’s not done properly you are likely to get absolutely NO RESULTS. That is frustrating for individual business owners, who spend a lot of time and money advertising their business on the internet, and often get little or no results at all. Internet advertising is just one of many disappointments that internet marketers have to deal with. It is truly a hidden pothole that many internet marketers fall victim to, because it drains and drains advertising money with almost no results to show for it. Millions of people online spend money in advertisements, whether it is your banner ads or link ads, or text ads and others. Internet advertising is a huge and growing multi-billion dollar industry. Companies are popping up everyday to capitalize on this industry and to make money on internet marketers who are feeling desperate to advertise their business. All the companies, of course, come up with a rehash of the previous one with slight variations, promising to get better results. In the end, it is all the same, none are truly better than the other. Having said all of that, it is not that advertising is not necessary for success, but it has to be done wisely. It has to be done in a cohesive manner, with a well designed strategy and a cost effective approach. The problem with internet advertising is two-fold: 1) It is about the delivering of results, as most companies promise and 2)it is about the overreliance of internet marketers on certain form of advertising (namely banner ads) to promoste their business. First of all, those who are new to internet advertising are easy prey, because they don’t know how the system works. They don’t know a lot of the technicalities with respect to advertising that would raise a Red Flag as to whether the company can deliver on its promise or not. As an example, many people don’t know the difference between an impression and an actual visit to a website. Millions fall victim to that, there is a huge difference. People are thinking that they are receiving visits to their website in most programs, when in reality, they are only receiving impressions. Impressions are looks and activities around the link of the advertisement, that are immediately recorded, whether the person clicked on the ad or not. Advertisers are paying to get clicks and actual visits, but in fact, they are simply getting impressions or looks. Obviously looks and impressions will never result in a sale or a sign up, because the prospect is not actually looking and examining the real product and service that the company offers. And they are also not on the point where they can make a purchase decision with one click of the mouse, which is of course, located at the affiliate website. So, it is no wonder that the conversion rate in most programs is Zero percent. Zero sign ups out of 500 views by all estimations would be considered a dismal failure, a sign of a system that does not work. So, how does one go about advertising on the internet in a manner that yields results? Again, this is a process that is time-consuming, but it can yield strong results. A combination of a cohesive strategy and a set of action that incorporates a variety of tactics and tools in order to communicate to the targeted prospects is the most effective way of advertising. Needless to say, that a thorough evaluation and a detailed review of every aspect of an advertising campaign is critical for success on the internet. Internet advertising does not have to be an expensive proposion. In fact, the most effective advertising campaigns are often the ones that are cost effective, that relies more on natural organic results from search engines. With minimal costs, a business can produce a high traffic website that would send natural, organic results to the company’s website or storefront. For this reason, the most effective form of internet advertising is the ones that are centered around Search Engine results. Because the search engine results are completely based on consumer inputs, the company is in fact targeting its internet advertising campaign to a niche group, that are likely to buy its products or service.
