A narrative entry from my diary

I was flipping the pages of my diaries a dozen or so years back the other night. Many of the entries I really enjoyed, while others were so, so. Some of the entries looked shallow too. There were many poems and in different languages too, which I have forgotten they even existed. I read a few of the poems to my wife, who did not know there were so many of them either. One really striking entry was about our son and which I would like to share.
The entry was 14 years back when our son was only three years and a few months. The entry was about his overall nature at the time. After reading it myself first, I couldn’t help but enjoy it and had a pride in it too. So, I called my wife and son together and read the entry to them both. When I was finished reading aloud, our son couldn't help but smile. You know why? because this was how I described him at age 3 and how he is exactly at 17: a highly intelligent, introvert, quiet, extremely patient (to the extent of being a procrastinator), and a bit stubborn. He had clearly developed his own mind, wanted things done his own way, and was ready to bear the responsibility and face the consequences. No wonder, he wants to pursue astronomy that he started developing a keen interest on when he was barely 6 years old.
Another incident about the same day’s entry about him went like this: Returned to our suburb apartment after visiting the town for shopping and entertainment. There was an overhead bridge and we had walked over it. Later in the evening, he showed us something he drew. I was trying to figure out what he was drawing. I showed it to my wife. Both of us were not able to figure out what the drawing was exactly about. Then we asked him. He told it was that overhead bridge that we walked on several hours ago. When he started to explain his drawing, we immediately realized we were not as smart as he was when it came to art and drawings. A third incident described there went like this: It was cold and he wasn’t wearing his pants and warm cap. I wanted to put them on. However, he would not let me put the warm cap on, but only the pants. When I told him he was required to wear the cap if he wanted to wear the pants. There was no one or the other. He would shiver with cold, but would not put both back on. He would simply refuse. A little later, he started pulling the woolen sweater he was wearing down to his feet and started sitting in a kind of fetal position, but would still not put the pants on if he was required to wear the cap too.
Anyway, we just enjoyed the entry and thought it might be worth sharing. Thank you very much for reading it.
