I would like to share with you a recent experience I had with a known Internet Marketing Company Scam
I was contacted by the company for an initial phone interview where it was established that Yes I did want to make money from the Internet, Yes I did have a few hours a week to spend doing work and yes I did think that a mentor was a good idea.
From this initial Interview I was told that I was eligible to be mentored and a "Senior Consultant" would contact me and explain more.
Well the Senior Consultant did ring about a week later and asked that my partner sit in on the interview which she did, This Consultant then went on to explain what his company was about and established what our financial capacity was and then offered to sign us up for one of a three tiered marketing system and mentoring program.
All sound good so far and I ask that we see a contract re the program before we were willing to sign up,
In the email I received three Invoices, one for each tier in the system (not complete) created in Microsoft word with no letter head, and a pile of PDF promotional material.
Said consultant rang me the next day and said "did you receive your contracts"
"No" I said, "all i received from them was the three invoices and a bunch of promotional material, what I wanted was a legally binding contract that clearly outlined the responsibilities of both parties and the recourse procedures" etc etc etc.
This Senior Consultant then said that "he would have to check with his superior and would call back".
He called back in 5 minutes and said "that what was sent was the contract"
I then said "no" and again explained what I had received.
He then went on to say that "if I was to sign a contract that that would legally bind me"
I said "Exactly that is what I want, I am not going to invest money into a business without a contract".
He then went on to say, "well when you buy an airline ticket you dont get a contract"
I pointed out to him that actually you do, and besides an airline ticket is not a business investment, He then went on to heatedly say "that it was ridiculous that I would be wanting a Contract"
I then said "well if you have been in business for as long as you said you have and have dealt with as much dollars as you said you have then I am sure that you would have in place a series of basic contracts for prospective business arrangements".
At this point he got more heated and louder and louder, so I said "well our conversation is over now and hung up".
He rang back, I didnt answer, he rang again, I didnt answer, he rang again, so I answered and said, "(name) if that is you, I have claerly stated to you that unless you are prepatred to provide me with a legally binding contract that clearly outlines the responsibilities of both parties then I am not prepared to do business with you".
At this point he became the petulant child and took his ball and went home, His comment was, "well you are not going to get a coach now after you hung up on me", so I guess he rang back just to tell me thst lol.
The moral is that nobody should get sucked in to the scams that are out there, make clever choices, make informed choices and make the right choices. Always makje sure that your investments are guarantedd and clearly set out.
