TRUE STORY*...

Let me say right up front that I don't condone my behavior, and this is a TRUE STORY.

Back in the mid 80's I had the good fortune to befriend an Artist named Richard Royce. He introduced the Art of Making Hand-Made-Paper* to the US.  His work was wonderful with both Colors and Tectures unlike anything else on the market.

He needed help selling his Body of Work to Galleries throughout the US and Canada, so I came on board and became an ART-DEALER*.

One day Richard suggested that we go to NYC to establish ourselves there, and being that we both lived in Upstate NY at the time, it was only logical that we make the Trip.

I picked him up and by 7AM we were on our way to making the 2 hour drive to NY.  I had a small Chevy ASTRO Van loaded with FINE ART and eager to Show and Sell what we could that day.

My enthusiasm got the best of me as we drove a back road shortcut to get to the NY Thruway near New Paltz NY @ 70 MPH ... A State Trouper pulled us over.

My Bad for sure, but as I got my License & Registration from my wallet I noticed that I'd placed a GET-OUT-OF JAIL-FREE Card* there some Months earlier. (Just in case) :) ...

As the Trouper approached, I rolled down my window and presented him with all my papers and said "Will THIS Do Anything for me Officer?" and I Shut Up ... To my surprise He immediately started to Laugh and told me that because I started His Day w/ a LAUGH* that he was going to let me go without a Speeding Ticket*.  (He did tell me to SLOW DOWN)

After a successful day of selling our Body of Work to a handful of Galleries, we were very pleased with our success and by 5PM we were on the Henry-Hudson-Parkway* heading Home for another 2 hour Trip.  You guessed IT...

Again doing 72 MPH in a 55, I got stopped only this time by a much different NYC Cop. ... OMG I thought quickly and actually said to Richard "DARE I TRY IT AGAIN?" ... He said that I was ON MY OWN ... So I was ready as the Officer Approached, and as I was about to offer my papers w/ my GET-OUT-OF-JAIL Card* positioned on Top ... HE Huffed and said "Ha, What's THAT Supposed to Do?" ... I calmly said "Not a Whole LOT I guess Officer." ... "Not a whole lot."

He walked back to his car and as I observed him from my mirror thought to myself "I think He's LAUGHING in the privacy of His Car." ... I told Richard.  As the officer returned to my open window, he told me that he wasn't going to issue me a Ticket but that I should SLOW DOWN.  "Yes Sir Officer, and Thank You I said." ... Smiling as I pulled away.  Richard couldn't believe IT.

TWICE in the Same Day I managed the impossible ... So what's the moral of my story? ... You never know WHEN The UNIVERSE might just Smile, and maybe even Laugh with you.  LOL.

I never tried to repeat my action again, and have slowed down as well.  Can't PUSH Fate.

My reason for sharing this story is to remind us to Be BOLD* and sometimes just a little Crazy as well.  Can't hurt, and might just help.  You never know.

My final words of advice ... We are all sales people* and must stretch ourselves by being creative to the nth degree.

Share my story if you like, as it is pretty funny.

I look forward to working with you.  Let's DO This together.
