Does The Bible Teach The Law Of Attraction?

The first of what I am calling RRR - Ron's Rocking Reports (at least I hope so). Recently I posted a video on manifesting anything you want. Someone made a comment that said in effect that thinking positively is good but only God can give you what you want. My reply was that God created the Law Of Attraction himself for us to use. In this blog post I would like to explain my comment. I am not an overly religious person, more spiritual than anything else, but I do believe in God and Jesus and that God created the Universe. While he created the universe, he also created all universal laws. Wikipedia describes universal laws as “concepts of legal legitimacy actions, whereby those principles and rules for governing human beings' conduct which are most universal in their acceptability, their applicability, translation, and philosophical basis, are therefore considered to be most legitimate”. In other words, these laws are required to be in existence in order for the universe to work and make sense. Among these laws would be the law of gravity – without which we would fly off into space. Some laws super cede other laws – such as the law of lift which enable birds and planes to fly in spite of gravity. We can also say that another universal law is the law of energy. Energy can neither be created or destroyed only transformed. Since God himself is energy, he had to put some of himself into what he created. Thus the universe, like us, are a part of God. So when the LOA says that the universe will give us what we want and desire, it is actually God doing this. There are, depending on who you talk to, between 12 and 20 universal laws. I’m not going to mention all of them here, just the one that this post is about – the Law Of Attraction, which super cedes all other laws. The LOA ( short for the Law Of Attraction) simply states – conceive (ask), believe (faith), and achieve (receive). This is a constant theme written and spoken about in many self-development books and movies such as Think And Grow Rich and The Secret – If the mind (you) can conceive it and believe it, the mind (you) can achieve it. On a deeper level it proves that everything in the universe is energy. Since thought is a form of energy, anything you focus on with strong emotional intent, feelings and concentration, you eventually bring into your existence. Like attracts like. We become or get what we think about most of the time. The principles that the LOA teaches are actually found in the Bible. The Bible has many stories of the LOA in action and Jesus teaches these principles throughout the New Testament. It has stories of overcoming (Job), of living badly and succeeding anyway (the prodigal son), and believing and achieving (Joseph). Jesus preaches about asking and receiving, about having faith in what you believe, and receiving with open arms. Job 3:25 says “Because a dreadful thing I have dreaded, it has come upon me. And what I have been scared of comes to me.” Job complains mightily of his being treated unfairly. After realizing that he must own up to what he has done with his life, he rises up and becomes a greater man than he was. Luke 15 talks about the prodigal son, who asks his father for his inheritance before the father dies. The father does this and the son wastes the inheritance. He realizes he lived wrong and asks his father for forgiveness. His father does saying his son was lost and is now found – that the son lived wrong and is now about to live the life he was supposed to live. Genesis 30 mentions Joseph as a young farm boy who wanted to be a great king. No one in his family believed he would amount to much. Even though he had setbacks, because of his belief in himself, he became the great leader he envisioned himself to be. Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you.” Matthew 17:20 says “"You don't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." Matthew 7:8 says “For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Proverbs 3:27 says "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Philippians 4:8 tell us to "think on things that are pure and honest and of a good report." I have just tried to show you that the Bible does in fact teach the LOA. Whereas the Bible tells you what you would have to do, it doesn’t tell you how to do it in a way that would make sense to you. The principles are scattered throughout the Bible and you would have to put the pieces together yourself. That in itself is quite hard and only a few people would know how to piece it together and use it. The LOA, the compilation of those principles that those few people put together to use, does this for us and makes it simpler for us to use. Now, I live in the Bible belt here in the US and I have heard many people who say they have prayed and not received. They say it’s because that God doesn’t want them to have it, or God feels that they’re not worthy, or that God has other plans for them, or that God is not Santa Claus and won’t give us everything that we ask for. To this I say hogwash. The Bible clearly says ask and it will be given to you, not ask and it will be given to you UNLESS…. I have not found one instance of unless in the Bible. If you know of one, please let me know. To me, the reason they did not get what they asked for is because they did not ask the right way. The LOA tells us how to ask correctly so that the universe (God) can deliver to us what we want . It might not come the way we thought it would or when we thought it would, BUT as long as we ask and believe correctly, we will receive it. I also look at it this way. Any parent would want their children to be prosperous and succeed, not to live in poverty and be a failure. God is our Father, our parent. Since a little bit of God is in us and if we feel that way about our children, doesn’t that also mean that God wants the same for us, his children? I believe so. That’s why he created the universe with a universal law called the Law Of Attraction. – to give us want we desire most. You will eventually become what you think. And you can't think one thing and become something else. If you allow yourself to think negative worried, fearful thoughts, then you will become a negative, worried, fearful person. You cannot think defeat and expect victory. You can't think poverty, and expect wealth. You can't think the worst, and expect the best. Think on things that build you up and not tear you down. You've got to dwell on the positive and not the negative. Quit thinking about what you don't have and start thinking about what you do have. Quit thinking about what's wrong with you and start thinking about what's right with you. And the best part of the Law Of Attraction is, it will work for anyone, anytime, not just people who are religious. Just as Alcoholics Anonymous works without being religion based so does the Law Of Attraction work that way.. The universe (God) loves us no matter what. What we desire, the universe (God) also desires for us. It’s just simply a matter of going about it in the right way. I know this post is a wee bit long, but it wasn’t something that could be explained in a few sentences. I hope I haven’t bored you and that I have explained to you what I have intended to. If not, I have failed and if I have failed, then please let me know and I’ll try again. Like Job I will overcome that failure and, like Joseph I will achieve my goal of explaining this to you. Have a wonderful life, the kind of life you want and deserve!
