Step 3 of the program of recovery(sanctification) says:
Made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of GOD as we understand him. For a Christian in recovery this means we need to See God and our Recovery(sanctification) from a biblical worldview.
I see so many professing Christians that do not even know what they believe. A little of this and a little of that and we wonder why we continue to walk in the obsessive compulsive behaviors(those sins that so easily beset us Heb 12:1). The way we look at things is called a world view. A world view is based on 5 presumptions, like any other worldview. It is time for us all to know how we should be viewing the circumstances around us. In order to to understand this I have posted these 5 things so you can see if you see the circumstances through the true biblical worldview.
There are 5 things that define a Christian/ biblical world view. It is the way we answer life’s questions through the Bible as the lens or filter. There are 5 basic ideas that must be addressed, that of origins and identity, purpose morality and our destiny. These 5 questions are what define a basic world view.
Origins.
A Christian believes that GOD has created everything. A biblical/ Christian world view uses general revelation; what we see in nature (rom 1:20) and in mankind (Rom: 2:14, 15). It is also revealed through special revelation; which is primarily communicated to the Christian through the Bible (2timothy 3:16).
Identity.
The Biblical/ Christian worldview views God as sovergn and mankind as Gods special creation(psalm 8:5), that man was given dominion over the earth and Gods creation (Gen 2:15).
Purpose.
The Christian is taught that; that mans purpose is to know God and To love him with your whole heart (duet.11:13) and to fellowship with Him. The Christian view is that we are only right with God through Jesus Christ. Out of this we are brought into a right relationship with Him and enjoy Our Love relationship With Him.(John 17:3)
Morality.
The Christian has to one’s morality through the filter of the bible or special revelation. Morality is set upon the example of God not man because man surely fails (genesis 3). A Christian worldview on morality is only achievable through the person of Christ (Ephesians 2:8-10). Not by one’s own works.
Destiny.
This would be probably the most important, for if there is no future to come, no destiny, then all of it is for nothing. The Christian believes that there are 2 outcomes to this question. 1 eternal life in Christ Jesus (Revelation21:1-7) or eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:11-15). This is totally dependent upon ones acceptance of Christ as the risen Son of God as a sacrifice for our sin.
Only through this lens can we make certain of our relationship with Christ.
If you do not adhere to these 5 presumptions, then your world view is not A Christian world view but a secular worldview and you must change the way you perceive things (Romans 12:2). The only way to do this is to turn your will and Life over to Christ Jesus. (Step 3 of Recovery or sanctification). Only then can we see clearly enough to take the rest of the steps in order to continue to grow in the grace and Knowledge of GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.
