Thanks to Blake, a homeless vendor with style, for introducing and selling me a "whats up magazine", distributed by and for the homeless and disadvantaged. They're working, not begging. www.whatsupstl.com/wordpress/
After picking up my prescription from the Schucks Cullinary pharmacy and saving $$ by using my free prescription National Drug Card, I was feeling pretty good as I crossed the street, when I heard the voice of a young homeless man by the name of Blake, asking me; sir would you like to purchase a "whats up magazine", which will help the homeless and disadvanted. Originally, I said no thanks.
While I stopped to take my medication, I noticed that Blake didn't pester me with another atempt to sell me a magazine. Suddenly another pedestrian crosses the street to hear the same greeting from Blake that I received. Again no high pressure. I said to the young vendor, I'll take one.
After being in business for over sixteen years in downtown St. Louis Mo., I have experienced many request from the homeless and disadvanted, one even asked me for $5, while sitting down in a chair at starbucks. Believe me, he got a different result than Blake.
Imediately, Blake shared his goals of no longer being homeless, by selling his "Whats Up Magazines". I saw hope in his eyes. What a great plan and system put together by a caring attorney, and his staff. What's Up STL.
