John Maxwell's word for the day was "Social Media". He shared how he was introduced to "the impact of social media" by a friend that tweeted to his followers that he was having dinner with John. John said within about 5 minutes time, this person had a few hundred responses with people saying things like "Tell John Hi", "Wish I was there"...etc. So it made him recognize how this media could allow a person to make an impact and influence the masses.
With that said, a 13 year old shared with me yesterday that someone from school shared some negative thoughts about her on Facebook. She found out through a friend that photographed the comments and texted it to her. So of course she texts the other girl to find out why she posted what she did on Facebook. Good thing the 13 year old that was talked about is not allowed a Facebook account because we know this incident would have escalated on Facebook. We don't even want to discuss what could take place from there.
So sharing both sides is just my way of making sure that we are very careful and aware of the impact of social media. Once you put your face, messages, comments, etc. out there for the world to see, you can't take them back. We see this daily with athletes, movie stars, people in the press, etc. What they do is blasted out for the world to see. So don't take the things you do in social media lightly, it is your reputation on the line.
It ain't right. It ain't wrong. It's just my opinion.
Your Partner in Success and Life Ron "Simplified" Myers
