For those of you that struggle with loved ones being negative toward your business, this lesson is true.
A lesson I learned about family and friends being negative about your business:
People close to you, such as family and friends only know you in one way - the person they have always known. People don't like change and they especially don't want you to change from the person they know.
If they see you doing something different and are super excited, they don't know what to do with that. They don't want to understand what you are doing because seeing you charged up freaks them out.
Here is the problem, they don't want to understand it and they can see you are going somewhere away from them perhaps. They don't want you to go there without them. On the other hand, they don't want to join you either.
So they try to be "well meaning" and tell you not to do it because you might fail and get hurt. These well meaning friends and family poop all over your dream. Sorry to be blunt, but that is exactly what they are doing. The sad thing is that they don't realize that they themselves are destroying your dream. The people that claim to care about you.
I keep people like this far far away from my business. I learned the hard way that no matter how much you want them to understand it and support you, they don't want to no matter what you do or say. You can talk to them until you are blue in the face and it won't make one bit of difference.
I know there are exceptions of course, but the people that try to destroy your dreams need to be kept at a distance from those dreams.
Don't ever let ANYONE discourage you from following your dreams. They are far to prescious.
